What kind of texts does Scribal edit?
We work on any text a researcher, journal, or research institution might produce — so anything from scientific reports and book reviews to dissertations, anthologies, and funding applications.
Why should I trust Scribal?
Scribal was set up by academic editors with over 10 years of experience in the field, and we only work with editors with a similar level of experience. We value long-term relationships over quick profits, and prefer to grow organically on the basis of our good reputation. Finally, you are free to contact your editor if you have any questions — every Scribal editor has a stake in the business, so our success is intimately linked to yours.
What's the difference between proofreading and Scribal's All-in-One Academic Editing?
Proofreading is restricted to dealing with grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Scribal's All-in-One Academic Editing begins with proofreading, but extends to improvements in structure, tone, flow, and word choice, and also covers checks to ensure that your text is correctly formatted and that your references and bibliography are in good shape. We only call it "academic proofreading" because that's what most people call it — but in reality, we do much, much more.
What languages does Scribal work with?
Currently we only work with texts in English, but we are considering offering other languages in the future.
Does Scribal edit non-academic texts?
No, we do not. However, we have a strong network of colleagues who may be able to help you — send us a message below so we can put you in touch.
Delivery, pricing, and payment
How quickly can you deliver my text?
Delivery times vary depending on the length of your text. We can deliver up to 30,000 words within 7 days, 60,000 words in 14 days, and 90,000 words in 21 days. These are guaranteed delivery times — we can often deliver sooner. For longer texts, we will confirm the delivery date before sending you an official price quote.
Can I pay in my local currency?
Yes, our payment solution means you can pay in almost all major European currencies or US dollars, with a variety of payment methods that are common in your country.
Can you arrange for my organization to pay the invoice?
Absolutely. When confirming your order, add the details of your department and/or organization. We will communicate with your organization to arrange payment.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes! Clients who pay when confirming their orders automatically receive a discount of 10%. Returning customers also receive a discount of 10%. Finally, we have agreements with certain journals whose authors can use Scribal's editing services at a discount of 10%. However, it is not possible to combine discounts.
Quality and confidentiality
What should I do if I am not happy with my text?
Scribal offers free revision of your text. To request revision, contact sales@scribal.co and tell us what you would like us to improve. Revising your text will be our priority.
What security guarantees does Scribal offer?
Your data is safe with us. All of Scribal's servers and third-party technology providers are based in the European Union and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your data is only shared to the extent necessary for Scribal to provide its core business services. We will never sell your data.
